Well done to all the drivers who competed in Round 2 of the SSI Karting Intervarsity Championship down in Watergrasshill, Co. Cork on Wednesday 27th November. After our successful qualifying event in Kart-City Raceway two weeks ago, 15 of the fastest DIT students were selected to compete on the A, B and C teams in the second round of the Karting Championship, bringing the total number of drivers up to 53.
There were many intense battles taking place all day against CIT, DCU, NCI and UL, which resulted in the DIT A team coming out on top. First place went to Peter Campbell, second to Niall Murray and 5th to James Newe. Graham Higginbotham and Andrew McCormack also scored points for the Team Championship. Peter's win has moved him up to second in the Driver's Championship, James is now sixth and Andrew drove exceptionally well for the DIT B team and is currently in seventh place.

DIT A are currently running 28 points ahead of CIT, leading 135 points to 107. However, DIT will have to keep up the good work in the third round in February to maintain first place! We are always looking for new drivers to help us extend our lead, if you think you have what it takes have a look at the different events we run and see where you're standing on our championship table!
