The January exams were over and it was time for DIT Karting Club to set the wheels back in motion with their first trip of the second semester.
On Thursday the 30th of January a grand prix was held in Kart-City Raceway, Santry. The club was happy to see some new faces on the night and are always on the lookout for fresh new talent. The trip was a success despite some challenging conditions, due to heavy rainfall the track was slippery.
Well done to all the drivers who competed in Round 2 of the SSI Karting Intervarsity Championship down in Watergrasshill, Co. Cork on Wednesday 27th November. After our successful qualifying event in Kart-City Raceway two weeks ago, 15 of the fastest DIT students were selected to compete on the A, B and C teams in the second round of the Karting Championship, bringing the total number of drivers up to 53.
On Wednesday the 6th of November, DIT Karting Club competed in the first round of the SSI Karting Championship Intervarsities on the famous Nutts Corner circuit, Co. Antrim. The club were competing against the best drivers their rival colleges could offer, producing fierce competition on the day which was amplified by a very slippery track.
DIT Karting Club’s “Race to Raise”, held on the 23rd of October, proved to be a great success in raising money for Barretstown. The charity’s aim is to help rebuild children’s lives who are recovering from serious illnesses, namely cancer and serious blood diseases.
